My son joined this school after he discontinued his schooling in 2019 ( mid of his sixth grade). This year (2025), he has completed his 12th with 79% and 10th with 91%. He has been admitted on merit to one of the reputed colleges.

All the above credit goes to the school. They take the time to understand each child's strengths and challenges, and they tailor their approach to help every student thrive. It’s clear that the school values kindness, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. I’ve seen such growth in my child, academically and personally, and I credit that to the inspiring educators and supportive environment at this school.

Special mention goes to Priya mam (Director). She knows about every student. Vatsalaya is known as the alternate school in Tambaram for children with difficulties in learning. When we had to shift from mainstream school for our son, we thought he would be in Vatsalaya for a couple of years and be back in the mainstream. When we entered Vatsalaya, Ms Priya interacted in detail and advised us to get the current assessment, for planning ahead. We were not interested in reassessment but followed the school requirements. The Psychologist advised us about the difficulties faced by them, ways to move forward, playing sports and better games.

A different path opened in Vatsalaya. Five student-One Teacher atmosphere here provides the best foundation. The relearning of the languages –English and Tamil happened from the basics along with phonics. All the activities create awareness for the child and also the parents. Yoga (morning relaxation technique in all hectic traffic, domestic do’s n don’ts), Prayers, songs, thousands of activities based on flashcards, reading, speech, kinesthetic, tactile, visual, auditory ways, speech & other interventions, artworks in class and programmes with drama, dance, folk dance, speech, nature all with theme paved way from a tiny kid to a confident teenager. The online classes during COVID-19 nurtured their soft skills. The School Independence Day programme performed online from the homes of the children during COVID-19 was so lovely to watch, highlighting their best talents, well learnt skills without the physical support of the teachers.

Ms Priya is the epitome of holistic well-being of the Children, updating herself and the team in the preparation of the worksheets and activities for effective learning for today and tomorrow. The teachers, akka’s all are lovely mothers filled with warmth, love, and understanding of each child’s choice, weakness & strength. The team, both young and senior, brings the best age-old traditions and innovation to the students. My humble gratitude to Vatsalaya for being there in his daily life, as I am away for work.

From dreading the speech classes, the silent kid to the inquiring kid, the polite, caring grandson, and joyful friend, I could see the change is so graceful and immense. The choice of subjects, identified as best suitable to him, the board exam preparation, and the passing confidence a hallmark traits of Vatsalaya. As per the Epics, Vatsalaya is loving kindness(Jainism), fond love(of Shiva)- Shiva Purana, unselfish love (Nepali), unfeigned & wholehearted assistance to members of one’s community (Samanta bhadra’s Ratna Karanda).

In each festival celebrated in this school, we could see a bunch of ex-students being admired by the teachers. Students who have completed 12th std have made their careers as Lawyers, Animators, Hotel Management/Catering as well as Entrepreneurs! The game zone (Turf) is another feather in their holistic approach. Our Vatsalaya is truly the abode of kindness for all children, which provides a lifelong experience for today and the future.
