SRI VATSALYAM EDUCATIONAL TRUST
Vatsalaya Learning Centre is an open school started on June 18th, 2008. Stepping into its 17th year, the centre has now grown into a trust governed by reputed people in their respective fields. For the past 16 years, we have been involved in the services of special education for SLD (Specific Learning Disability) children. The centre has a team of dedicated teachers whose commitment has resulted in several SLD students emerging successful in their learning. Merely giving them the skills of listening, reading, and writing does not make their learning effective. A holistic approach involving multiple intelligences is imperative to ensure the fullest level of understanding and learning. This is evident as more students are mainstreamed into regular schools every year.
VATSALAYA OPEN SCHOOL [NIOS] AND LEARNING CENTRE
A standard assessment method employed at Vatsalaya helps to diagnose the child’s current learning levels and difficulties. When a child is assessed, his or her life skills like reading, writing, spelling, and math are tested. Children with learning difficulties seldom possess age-appropriate skills. An individual education plan is developed based on the competency of the child in each of these skills and the amount of bridging required. In the intensive remedial program, the progress of the child is recorded and the duration of the necessary remedial work is determined. Students with SLD, ADHD, and Autism are trained for the 10th and 12th board exams through NIOS (the National Institute of Open Schools). This board was chosen for its flexibility in the examination mode and choice of subject.

ADMISSIONS
- Admission into the centre will be based only on standard assessments and psychological evaluations.
- Admission is for any student who needs remedial help with their subject.
- Admission to the pull-out program is open to any student with SLD, as recommended by schools and parents.
- Admission can be sought at any time of the academic year, as the centre gives importance to remedial intervention.
- Admission is through referrals from MDA, clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, neurologists, school heads, and pediatricians.
